This is our first major road trip holiday and what an adventure it was.

Route 66 is the first part and what a start. We made a detour part way along to go to Monument Valley and The Grand Canyon, and picked up the part of Route 66 we missed, in the rain in 2016. This is included in the Route 66 pages.

We also explored LA, then up the fabulous Route 1 coastal road to San Francisco, so beautiful. We debated long and hard how to then get back to Chicage and onto Niagara Falls. As we worked out various places we wished to visit we decided to drive back, with the highlight being Salt Lake City and Pikes Peak.

We flew to Niagara from Chicago for a few days and then flew to New York, both so differnt but fantastic... Mistakenly we decided to drive to Washington. We should have taken the train or flown... you live and learn. Washington was enjoyable and a place to go back to again as were so many on this 53 day trip.
